RUSSIA, France, Germany | 87 minutes | 2016

A surprising tale where growing a new bodily part becomes a metaphor for awakening feelings.

After the success of his first feature Correction Class (which screened at the FNC in 2014), talented young Russian director Ivan I. Tverdovsky is back with the story of a middle-aged outcast who lives with her elderly mother. Natasha leads a drab existence until the day when she suddenly, and to her great surprise, grows a tail. Ostensibly about the cruelty of human existence, Zoology is ultimately an eloquent protest against the homogenization of culture and personal taste. (Stéphane Defoy)
