Spotlight on homegrown cinema
CANADA, Colombia, Mexico | 104 minutes | 2016
In a state of grief and fighting for survival, three migrants in three countries in the Americas begin a stunning physical transformation. Following up his promising La Playa D.C. (Un Certain Regard, Cannes 2012), the Colombian filmmaker returns with a second feature. Here, three characters must confront impending death. All three, migrants living in three different countries, undertake a drastic physical transformation triggered by their grieving process. A Canada/Mexico/Colombia co-production, X Quinientos is intensely powerful and affecting.
