The making of a docu-drama about Aghanistan and an ode to the determination of a film crew. The Land of the Enlightened by Pieter-Jan De Pue is a striking and innovative 16mm film portrait of Afghanistan that deftly mixes fiction and documentary, but getting it made was no easy task. The Last Omelette, which chronicles its obstacle-strewn, seven-year shoot in dangerous, unstable war zones, is the perfect behind-the-scenes counterpoint to the original, entirely focused on the perseverance of its film crew.
