Experimentation. Transcendence. Rapture.
HUNGARY | 91 minutes | 2016
Fairy tale for adults where ghosts and monsters roam around an overprotective mother and her fragile son. In this beautiful portrait of the emotionally dependent relationship between a mother and her son, the Hungarian director crafts a parallel universe inhabited by the two reclusive central characters. Peopled by dwarfs, trolls and animals that roam through the woods, the crazy stories the mother tells her son are attempts to keep him close for fear of what lies outside the family unit. A fantastical tale punctuated by touches of the supernatural, Lily Lane is a reminder that when night falls, danger lurks.
