Thirty years later, the filmmaker completes his trilogy and continues his exploration of our ever-changing society. The final part of his trilogy featuring the character of Abel (still played by the ineffable Marcel Sabourin), Aujourd'hui ou jamais is a lovely, poetic take on the toll taken by the passage of time and the fears we all have to let go of in order to grow and mature. Benefiting as always from the huge amount of leeway Lefebvre allows himself in writing screenplays, this film about reconciliation is the story of an absent father (the unforgettable Claude Blanchard) who comes back to try and mend fences with his defiant son.
