Spotlight on homegrown cinema
QUEBEC, Canada | 88 minutes | 2016
A journey both personal and mystic, this documentary breaches the portals of enhanced consciousness. Putting a face to spirituality is never easy, yet that’s what filmmaker Sebastian Lange has set out to do. His new documentary-cum-essay tackles a largerthan-life subject: transcendental meditation and its numerous metamorphoses. Through the words and experiences of two adepts, Bobby Roth and David Lynch, we travel from the banks of the Ganges to the skyscrapers of Manhattan, sharing in the personal quest of a director whose questions engage us all.
Sebastian Lange was born in Athabasca, Canada, he studied photography at NYU and theatre at the Philipe Gaulier College in London and he is the co-founder of Montreal’s Loaded Pictures, and he has worked extensively as a documentary cinematographer, and also served as director of photography for a documentary on Carole Laure's feature drama The Love Project (2013). Lange’s directorial projects include the Bravo! television documentary Between Wind and Water (2011), and Shadows of Paradise (2016), his feature documentary debut.
