While waiting for Metallica to show up, hope and anxiety in an Iranian radio station in downtown San Francisco. Featuring an uncompromising program director (the incredible Moshen Namjoo, nicknamed the Bob Dylan of Iran) who rebels against management’s commercial demands, an in-your-face professional wrestling coach and the first Afghan rock band (Kabul Dreams), who long to play live with metal icons Metallica, Radio Dreams is a mischievous, nostalgia-tinged treat. Shot through with irresistible humour, the film is full of absurd situations inspired by the films of Aki Kaurismaki.
