In the Mouth of Madness. Patterns is a poetic, immersive horror film that tells the story of a repressed past coming to the surface… Walter goes to a hypnosis session to figure out why he feels disconnected from his body. His spirit dives into a mental journey to destroy the dark signs of his own past. What Walter finally discovers is a family secret in the form of a monster lurking in the pipes of his ancestral home. 

This project was supported through the SAT’s artwork creation program, a grant from the CNC’s development fund and a sponsorship from Matterport. Directed by Pierre Friquet and loosely based on H.P. Lovecraft’s cosmogony, the artwork will also be adapted as a virtual reality experience for the HTC Vive headset. It combines 3D, videogrammetry and 360° video techniques.
