Engaging with the world
| 80 minutes | 2016
Visceral film about a new migrant crisis, as Europe collapses and its residents search for a new El Dorado at all costs. This first drama by Belgian documentary maker Van Lancker, set in an unspecified location, starts with the premise that the world economic system is collapsing and the Europeans are forced to emigrate to the north. A skilful blend of contemporary realities and extreme survival situations, this hard-hitting work, shot in refugee camps and abandoned villages, conveys the anguish of men and women desperately in search of the El Dorado of their dreams.
